# Payment case log instructions

Use one case per underlying issue and one attempt row per provider payment attempt. Keep obligation IDs stable across replacements. Store full account numbers outside this workbook.

The example contains one $1,200 obligation and two attempts of $1,200. Attempted amounts sum to $2,400; successful compensation remains $1,200 after the original returned and the replacement was received. A simplified no-fee provider ledger would show -1200 + 1200 -1200 = -1200. Don't mix provider cash movements with the payer funding debit or count both as contractor compensation.

The final replacement outcome is synthetic, not a claim about any provider status label. Use actual provider evidence and source labels in live cases. Don't mark a case closed simply because a replacement was submitted. Funding failures require checking downstream payouts; they don't automatically justify reissuing every payment.
