Pay every examiner for the visit, miles, and supplies
Wingspan onboards phlebotomists, paramedical examiners, and mobile techs, tracks their certifications and insurance and flags anything expiring, pays each completed visit, plus the mileage and supply reimbursements you send, and files 1099s.
Visits, mileage, and supply reimbursements can land as separate lines on one payment.

Get new examiners ready for their first visit in one flow
A new examiner often moves from a job post to e-signature packets to a separate screening vendor before anyone can take an order. Wingspan puts it in one onboarding flow: set up an engagement for each role, location, or client contract, attach the requirements it needs, and Wingspan builds each examiner’s flow from them.
From their phone, examiners scan their ID and take a live selfie for a biometric check, sign agreements, submit a W-9 and payment details, and upload their certifications and insurance. Your team sees what’s submitted, missing, or waiting for review, and payments stay held until every requirement is complete.
Pay per visit, with mileage and supplies on the same payment
Examiners earn per draw or per exam, plus mileage past a set distance and supplies like dry ice and shipping kits. That math usually lives in a spreadsheet before someone keys it into a payment tool. Send completed orders to Wingspan by file import or API with the visit pay, mileage, and supply reimbursements your system calculates, and Wingspan pays them as separate lines. Visits logged through the API can also be priced by rate cards you set in Wingspan.
Your team controls approvals and who can release funds. Examiners see every visit, mileage line, and reimbursement on their payment, then choose standard ACH, Wingspan Wallet, or an instant payout.
Catch W-9 and TIN mismatches before an examiner’s first payment
Wingspan collects each examiner’s W-9 during onboarding, checks the TIN with the IRS, and flags mismatches before the examiner gets paid. The examiner fixes a bad name and TIN combination once, up front, instead of in January when corrections cost time and penalties.
At year-end, Wingspan creates, reconciles, files, and delivers 1099s from the pay data it already has. Examiners review their tax documents in their portal and request corrections there, and your team approves each one.
Keep certifications, licenses, and insurance current without a spreadsheet
Phlebotomy certifications, driver’s licenses, auto insurance, and background checks all expire on different schedules, and an examiner with a lapsed credential shouldn’t be on the way to a patient’s home. Wingspan tracks each examiner’s documents against the renewal schedule you set for each requirement. For insurance certificates, Wingspan reads the policy dates, flags coverage expiring within 30 days, and reminds the examiner.
Wayfinder, Wingspan’s built-in suite of AI-enhanced intelligent features, reviews supported documents when they’re submitted and flags anything missing, expired, or mismatched. Your team makes the final call. Run background checks from the same record, or add your current screening vendor’s results as a document requirement.
I think the biggest benefit of the platform for us has been the centralization of our payroll process with contractors and the self-service.
