At Wingspan, we’re focused on solving the unique needs of contractors across the entire management lifecycle. This quarter, we shipped powerful updates that make compliance simpler, payments more flexible, and workflows more efficient. Here’s a look at what’s new.

Master Policy & Insurance Requirement Enhancements

Insurance compliance has long been a pain point for contractors and companies. You can now customize insurance requirements for each engagement, while your contractors have multiple paths to compliance.

Our Master Policy and Insurance Requirements enhancements provide flexible solutions for both you and your contractors to streamline onboarding and reduce friction across the compliance process.

  • Customizable insurance requirements – You can now set requirements by engagement.

  • Multiple compliance paths for contractors – Enroll in a Wingspan Master Policy, upload an existing verified policy, or upload a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for instant AI-powered validation.

  • New Wingspan insurance products – Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) and Professional & General Liability Insurance (PL/GL) provide contractors with essential coverage options.

Why it matters: Contractors get more choice with additional insurance offerings and faster onboarding, while you reduce compliance friction.

Automated Document Review and Validation with Wingspan’s Wayfinder AI

Today, you likely spend a significant amount of time manually checking for the presence and basic validity of common documents like resumes and headshots.In addition, documents like resumes and business cards are uploaded as flat files. Looking for documents and manually extracting key information slows down your onboarding process. 

Wingspan’s Wayfinder AI now allows you to use pre-configured document validation workflows to check for several standard documents. Now you can add new requirements and see the latest pre-configured options in the requirement type list within the existing approval workflow UI.  With the new Wayfinder AI document review, all validated documents will be marked as complete and you’ll be notified if a document has failed, along with any specific failure reasons or partially extracted data.

Our AI Document Review and Validation includes the following:  

  • Headshot / Photo: Verifies a valid, professional-looking headshot suitable for business use. Our AI verification checks for a human face that is visible, clear, centered and well lit, with a positive to neutral expression. 
  • Driver’s License (Naive*): Confirms a valid, unexpired driver's license is on file for record-keeping.
    • Must be identified as a driver's license from any country
    • Confirm matching on critical fields: Name, Date of Birth, Address
    • License must not be expired as of current date
  • Business Card: Verify a business card and extract comprehensive contact information. Our AI validation confirms the name extracted from the card matches the contractor profile, and also extracts at least one contact method (phone, email or website)
  • Resume: Verify a standard resume and extract comprehensive professional history. Our AI validation confirms there is an identifiable work experience section with at least one past employer. 

Why it matters: Faster, lower-friction compliance for frequently collected documents.

*Note: The Driver’s License (Naive) validation confirms that a license-like document is on file and not expired. It is not a replacement for our high-assurance Government-issued ID Verification Requirement, which includes biometric checks, liveness detection, and fraud prevention.

Improved Admin Management

Delete & Archive Functionality

As you manage contractors at scale, you likely need to off-board or pause work from time to time. We’ve made it easier for you to manage these inactive contractors by hiding or removing their records, while ensuring data integrity for audits and potential recovery. 

You can now mark a contractor record as Archived. You can also archive or delete specific engagement types, requirements, or contractor engagements. We built this functionality with contractors in mind - and included logic so data with dependencies can’t be deleted and historical records can be safely archived.

Why it matters: You can clean up old data, keep your dashboard organized, and retain important audit-ready data. The delete and archive controls help you test new elements like requirements or engagement types without cluttering your workflows.

Bulk Requirements Review

With more seamless navigation, additional integrations, and a new mobile-friendly view, we enhanced the Bulk Review mode to save you time and bring more clarity.  

We integrated contractor filters to make it easy to select just a subset of your contractor population and manage them in bulk based on the criteria you selected.  We also brought in the “to-do” flows to allow for efficient requirement approval and review, as well as document countersignatures. 

Why it matters: Managing contractors at scale requires better visibility and the need for fast operations. 

Resource History

Created a standardized event tracking system with scalable architecture that captures all significant actions and state changes.

Enabled the presentation of relevant event history to both payers and contractors in a consistent and relevant manner (i.e. History Widget).

For Contractors

View and manage international earnings

For international contractors, managing currency conversion and transfer timing can be a real challenge. Platform Balance introduces a new account view that allows contractors to:

  • Hold earnings in their supported local currency

  • Choose when to transfer funds, optimizing for exchange rates

  • Better navigate high-devaluation environments (e.g., Argentina)

Why it matters: Contractors gain greater flexibility and control over their international payments.
