Wingspan vs. Everee

Everee review: pricing, features, and alternatives

Everee is a US payroll platform for companies paying hourly, shift-based, and 1099 workers on flexible schedules. Payments start at $0.50 per payment, with same-day ACH, instant pay to a pay card, and tax filing in all 50 states (2). Staffing and gig operations are its clearest fit. Platforms paying workers in many countries should compare Wingspan first. It onboards and pays contractors across 200+ countries and territories in hundreds of local currencies, alongside flexible W-2 payroll and state payroll workflows. Small US teams may also compare Gusto, while teams that need an HR and IT system may compare Rippling.

What is Everee?

Founded in 2018, Everee is a payroll platform based in Salt Lake City, Utah (13). The company describes the product as built for "businesses that don't fit the traditional 9-to-5, one-location, W-2-only mold" (1). Brett Barlow has been chief executive since 2020.

From one dashboard, Everee pays W-2 employees and 1099 contractors and files payroll taxes in all 50 states (2). Its three product lines do different jobs. Flex Pay covers daily, weekly, or on-demand pay runs. Flex Suite handles multi-state tax, multiple EINs, remote I-9, and E-Verify, while Flex Build is for white-label and embedded payroll (1).

This is payroll and workforce payment software, not an HR system. Everee sells payroll rather than an employer of record or PEO arrangement. Its site lists PEOs and EORs as customers it serves, not services it provides (1).

Who Everee is built for

Staffing and gig operations paying hourly workers on irregular cycles are Everee's clearest audience. Its site names staffing agencies, gig work platforms, delivery and transportation, commission-based sales, home care, and PEOs and EORs as use cases (1). The integration list backs that up with staffing systems including Bullhorn, LaborEdge, ActivateStaff, NextCrew, Staffing OS, and Tracker (5).

On the Workforce Payments plan, billing follows payments rather than headcount. A company with 300 registered workers but 80 paid in a given month is billed on that activity (2). The separate HR and Payroll Platform tier is priced per active employee. That means a salaried single-location payroll is buying a different Everee product than the per-payment tier (2).

Everee pricing in 2026

Everee publishes one hard number. Its pricing page lists Workforce Payments at "Per payment: From $0.50" and describes an HR and Payroll Platform tier priced per active employee with no figure attached (2). A third line, Payroll As A Service, sells to technology partners on revenue share or wholesale terms with no published rate (2).

Capterra, not Everee, publishes a per-worker rate. It lists a Full Service Payroll plan starting at $10 per user per month (12). Everee states that per-worker and per-payment rates fall as volume rises. At high volume, the quote can differ from list (2).

Card payouts add a separate cost. Everee sells a pay card for a small monthly fee per active card in exchange for unlimited instant payments, so your total depends on the mix of ACH and card payouts. Payroll runs are unlimited at every tier (2).

Everee features

Pay timing organizes Everee's feature set. Speed gets the most detail. Payroll processed Friday morning reaches workers by end of day through same-day ACH, while a push to a pay card clears on weekends and holidays when banks are closed (3).

Tax paperwork covers both worker types. Everee's developer documentation states that an updated taxpayer identifier "will be validated automatically using Everee's TIN Verification product (if enabled)" (9). The Flex Suite page also lists W-4 collection, remote I-9, and E-Verify during onboarding. Year-end W-2 and 1099 forms are automatic (4).

The published integration list is weighted toward staffing and workforce management. It includes six staffing and applicant tracking integrations, six workforce management integrations, four benefits administration integrations, and QuickBooks Online plus VimHR under accounting and EOR (5). If your system isn't listed, Everee provides APIs and webhooks. Scope that work before you sign (5).

What users like about Everee

Across 31 reviews, Everee holds a 4.5 out of 5 overall rating on both Capterra and Software Advice (12 and 11). Software Advice breaks out ease of use at 4.5, value for money at 4.5, customer support at 4.6, and functionality at 4.3 out of 5 (11).

Speed and ease of setup recur in reviews on both platforms. One Software Advice reviewer wrote, "I was able to train an entry level employee on how to run payroll in under 15 minutes." Another said that paying daily "increased employee retention and satisfaction" (11). On Capterra, a reviewer described issuing direct deposit payroll for crews in 60 seconds (12).

Where Everee has limits

For finance teams, Everee's published integration list is narrow. Its accounting and EOR category names QuickBooks Online and VimHR, with no NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or other ERP connector listed (5). A CFO reviewing the product on Capterra wrote that there is "no ability to map employees by general ledger accounts," leaving cost accounting manual (12).

Functionality is Everee's lowest published review sub-score at 4.3 out of 5, compared with 4.6 for customer support (11). One Software Advice reviewer wrote that the previous year of payroll history "is not available on the platform" and comes from Everee staff instead. The reviewer added that it "can be accessed quickly" (11).

International ACH Transactions fall outside Everee's stated scope. Its payroll service terms say that Everee "does not intentionally or knowingly engage in or support International ACH Transactions" as defined in the NACHA rules (6). Client billing is separate, too. Everee's staffing payroll guide tells agencies "you maintain control of your client relationships and AR process" (7), while its published product pages describe funding and paying workers rather than invoicing an agency's end clients (3).

Everee alternatives

Wingspan is best for platforms where 1099 contractors, international contractors or contingent W-2 workers are critical to your business and where you have 100+ workers, so it is the first Everee alternative to compare. Deel focuses on international hiring and compliance, Gusto on small US teams, and Rippling on HR, IT, and payroll.

Wingspan as an Everee alternative

We built Wingspan as a system of record for companies that manage recurring flexible-worker rosters. One worker record carries onboarding requirements, engagement history, work details, payments, client billing, and tax documents across 1099 and W-2 engagements. Wingspan supports flexible W-2 payroll with state payroll workflows and every 1099-MISC box. It also onboards and pays contractors across 200+ countries and territories in hundreds of local currencies. If a worker's tax details change mid-year or a 1099 needs fixing after it's filed, both run through the app rather than a manual amendment (22 and 23). We bill on monthly active payees. List price is $10 per active payee per month, with lower effective rates at scale (17).

Wingspan gives independent contractors access to optional health coverage and financial tools that can support retention (wingspan.app contractor benefits). These are not employer-sponsored W-2 benefits, do not determine worker classification, and do not replace benefits required for employees. Classification depends on the working relationship. Review it with counsel. MCP lets approved AI agents use governed workforce records and workflows against that same source of truth.

Deel as an Everee alternative

Deel is another international comparison for teams that want contractor management or employer-of-record services. It publishes contractor management at $49 per contractor per month and employer of record at $599 per employee per month (14), with cross-border payouts and local compliance included. Deel publishes no volume tiers for contractor management, so the rate holds as the roster grows: a 1,000-contractor roster reaches $49,000 a month at list price (14), against about $10,000 on Wingspan's $10 per active payee list price (17). Everee's payroll service terms state that Everee does not intentionally or knowingly engage in or support International ACH Transactions (6). For a purely domestic hourly workforce, Deel costs more per contractor than Everee.

Gusto as an Everee alternative

Small US teams running a fixed payroll are Gusto's audience. Its Contractor Only plan starts at $35 per month plus $6 per contractor per month. The Simple payroll plan starts at $49 per month plus $6 per person per month (15). With a fixed monthly base and a per-person fee, Gusto's cost tracks headcount rather than payment volume.

Rippling as an Everee alternative

Rippling puts HR, IT, and payroll in one system. Its core platform starts at $8 per user per month (16), with device management and app provisioning available in the broader product. Everee's published product pages focus on payroll, payments, and worker onboarding rather than IT management (1). Teams that only need worker payments may not use that broader surface area.

Everee compared with Wingspan

Both platforms pay W-2 and 1099 workers from one US system. Everee focuses on pay timing, staffing integrations, and payroll tax filing in all 50 states. Wingspan keeps engagement requirements, work details, client billing, contractor tax filing, and governed agent access on the same worker record.

The cost of a filing mistake scales with contractor count. An information return filed after August 1 or not filed at all costs $340 per return for tax year 2025, rising to $680 per return for intentional disregard (18). For 1,000 contractors, that creates $340,000 of exposure in one filing season before the annual maximum the IRS sets for your business size. Backup withholding on a missing or incorrect taxpayer identification number runs at 24 percent (19).

Common questions about Everee

How long does Everee take to pay?

Everee pays through same-day ACH, push to debit card, and its own Visa pay card. Everee states that payroll processed Friday morning reaches workers by end of day, and that pay card payouts clear on weekends and holidays when banks are closed (3). Actual timing depends on the rail your employer chose.

How much does Everee cost?

Workforce Payments starts at $0.50 per payment, the one price Everee publishes (2). The per-active-employee payroll tier is not priced on Everee's site. Capterra lists a Full Service Payroll plan starting at $10 per user per month. Everee says per-worker and per-payment rates fall as volume rises.

What are the benefits of using Everee?

Everee's documented benefits are pay speed and pay flexibility. Everee runs daily, weekly, or on-demand pay cycles with unlimited payroll runs, files payroll taxes in all 50 states, and pays W-2 employees and 1099 contractors from one dashboard (2). Reviewers rate Everee 4.5 out of 5 across 31 reviews on Capterra.

Who is the CEO of Everee?

Brett Barlow is Everee's chief executive. Barlow joined Everee in 2020 from the Utah software company Pluralsight, where he was chief brand officer, and he wrote about the move on Everee's own blog (8). Everee was founded in 2018 and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah (13).

Does Everee file 1099s?

Yes. Everee files year-end tax documents including 1099 forms and lists payroll tax filing in all 50 states (2). When its TIN Verification product is enabled, Everee's developer documentation says it automatically validates an updated taxpayer identifier (9). For any payer, a 1099 filed after August 1 costs $340 per return for tax year 2025 (18).

What are the best Everee alternatives?

Wingspan is best for platforms where 1099 contractors, international contractors or contingent W-2 workers are critical to your business and where you have 100+ workers. Deel focuses on cross-border contractor payments, Gusto on small US teams, and Rippling on companies consolidating HR and IT. The right fit depends on where your workers are and which workflows need to share one record.

Bottom line: who should choose Everee

Everee is the right answer for a staffing, delivery, or gig operation paying hourly US workers on daily, weekly, or on-demand cycles, when pay timing is the problem you are solving and you are not looking for a worker system of record that also carries client billing and cross-border contractor payments, or when you already run payroll on Everee's Flex Suite and want faster payouts on the same platform. Per-payment billing also favors companies whose roster is much larger than the population they pay in a given month (2).

The fit is weaker if you pay workers outside the United States, need your payroll system to invoice clients, or need general ledger mapping beyond QuickBooks Online. Everee's service terms disclaim International ACH Transactions, and its published product and integration pages describe neither client invoicing nor an ERP connector beyond QuickBooks Online (6, 3, and 5).
